Silica gel is a porous, granular form of silica, which is manufactured from sodium silicate. Silica gel is used in transformer breathers to remove moisture. Soda lime is an active form of a mixture of hydroxides which has high absorption power for carbondioxide. Acid resistent mortar is used in jointing of acid proof tiles and bricks and in lining of furanaces and chimneys. In colloidal silica, the particles are colloidal in nature, which is colourless and transparent.
