Brake Disc Manufacturers

Brake discs are generally manufactured from grey cast iron, although some high performance vehicles can have ceramic-based or carbon fibre-based disc. The disc is bolted to the wheel hub; therefore the disc rotates at the same speed as the road wheel. The brake disc friction surface is exposed to the atmosphere; so the air flow around the disc as the vehicle moves cools the discs. The brake disc is either of a solid or ventilated type.
