Time transient analysis compares actual and predicted flows and pressures and utilizes significant differences to detect leaks. Leaks thresholds are continually adjusted for different flow rates so that they are above statistically significant instrumentation noise levels. The advantages of this method are that it can handle transient conditions and minimize false alarms by tuning thresholds to flow levels. Leaks up to 1% of flow can be detected.
