Current sensors detect the flow of current along an electrical wire by measuring (or sensing) the magnetic field that is set up by the flow of electrical current. These sensors are external to the jacket of the AC power cable and there is no direct electrical connection between the sensor and AC power.
Current Transducers are shunts for direct currents and current transformers for alternating currents. Current transducers are ideal for remote monitoring and software alarms. Its feature includes output of 4-20mA, simple clamp on design and top mounted terminals.
Current Transmitters measure the level of operating current and used to monitor equipment or drive other equipment with a modulating output. These transmitters are used to detect a motor failure, belt loss or a mechanical failure. Current transmitters combine a current transformer and signal conditioner into a single package. The current transmitters feature jumper selectable current input ranges and 4-20 mA or 0-5 VDC output.
