Polyethylene tanks are the most corrosive resistant tanks used in the industry. High density polyethylene is a polyethylene thermoplastic made from petroleum. HDPE has stronger intermolecular forces and tensile strength than lower density polyethylene. It is also harder and more opaque and can withstand higher temperatures 120 °C for short periods and 110 °C continuously. HDPE tanks are resistant to many different solvents and liquids. Tanks are previously made of stainless steel but HDPE replaced it because it overcomes the persistent corrosion problems of stainless steel and also the weight of HDPE tanks are very low compared to the weight of stainless steel.
