Profile: International Engineering Products and Consultants (IEPC), has designed a microprocessor-controlled, intelligent ballast for the industrial lighting industry. The Vari-Ballast™ system represents the next generation electronic ballast and includes models for fluorescent and high intensity discharge (HID) lamps. The Vari-Ballast™ is a microprocessor-controlled, intelligent ballast system for industrial, private label, and commercial lighting applications. Features include:

Each ballast includes dimming, thermal monitoring, burn hour readout, timing controls, and a smooth end-of-life shutdown process. With an HID master control unit (MCU), thousands of lights can bemonitored and controlled from a central desktop, laptop, or hand-held computer. Site engineers can program lighting scenes, dim HID lamps, create lighting schedules, plan preventive maintenance programs, identify parts to be replaced. Older magnetic and electronic ballasts are simply ballasts and require many add-on parts to deliver the same features.

The intelligent high intensity discharge (HID) Vari-Ballast™ drives metal halide (MH), high pressure sodium (HPS), pulse start (PS), and mercury vapor (MV) lamps, both regular and pulse start. There is no need to replace the ballast when you change the bulb. A single intelligent ballast regulates the current flow for every type of HID bulb and the micro-processors deliver superior lamp performance while extending the useful life of bulb and ballast.
