Paddle type flow indicator is an instrument attached to a paddle that sits in the flow line from the annulus. Returning mud stream amount pushes up the paddle, its push depends on the flow rate. If the flow rate increases an alarm will sound. It gives the first positive indication of kick, followed by an increase in the active volume.
