K-Flange is an easy to use Flange Design tool that can evaluate leakage due to pressure, external loads, and thermal differentials. K-Flange is a flange design and analysis tool that goes 'Beyond the Code' to address flange design and operation issues not covered by the ASME Code. K-Flange includes the following features: ASME Code Design, New Proposed ASME/PVRC Design Methodology, Gasket Property Database, Flange and Bolt Material Property Database and Leakage Evaluation (External Forces and Moments, Gasket property Data, Thermal Differentials, Bellville Washers, Gasket Creep, Gasket Stress Variation Between Bolts, Effect of Different Fluids).

Pi Engineering Software Inc. is a leader in providing software tools for solving complex mechanical engineering industry problems by understanding the fundamentals. Our goal is to address complex engineering problems, with an industry need, and provide software tools to address the problem in a practical manner with an easy to use format. The development of K-Flange is an example. Flange design has been a common problem in engineering for a long time. The ASME Code design rules are based on a classical analytical elasticity solution for the flange ring, tapered hub and neck. However, experienced engineers have been aware that there are other aspects of flange design other than stress. The flexibility of the flange joint is important and simply meeting Code requirements does not guarantee a joint that will be leak tight. The research by the Pressure Vessel Research Council and development of the tightness based gasket constants provided the technical means to take flange design to the next level. Pi Engineering Software developed K-Flange as the First commercial software to evaluate flange leakage.
