Sigma Thermal designs, engineers, supplies, and services industrial fired heating systems. Our products include thermal oil and thermal fluid heating systems, indirect process bath heaters and direct fired process heaters. We also supply engineered process bath heaters to meet any specification. Bath heater capacities are typically limited by physical size, but can be designed as large as 40MM Btu/hr net output in a single vessel depending on the specific process requirements.
We offer two types of standard thermal fluid heating system packages, as well as custom engineered thermal fluid heaters. Our HC-2 heater uses a high efficiency, three pass and double helical coil design. This three pass helical coil configuration cools flue gasses significantly before they contact the external shell, eliminating the need for internal shell insulation which reduces long term maintenance issues associated with internally insulated heater shells. Standard models are available from 500,000 to 75MM Btu/hr in both vertical and horizontal configurations. Base efficiencies can exceed 88% (LHV Basis), and with an optional economizer can exceed 93% (LHV basis).
Water bath and salt bath heaters utilize a variety of burner, fire-tube, and coil configurations to meet specific project demands. The Weir Bath heater is a slight variation of a traditional water bath heater that does not utilize a process coil. This type of heater is most commonly used as a reboiler for amine and glycol solutions. The bath vessel contains a fire-tube and a weir at the end of the fire-tube. The process fluid is circulated through the bath vessel in direct contact with the fire-tube. After the process fluid is heated, it falls over the weir where the return line sends it back to the process user.
