Strain Gages Manufacturers

Strain Gages is used for decades to measure the present tension or preload in bolts. It consists of two basic techniques to be used. The first technique is the gauges are mounted on the bolts themselves and in second they are mounted in washers placed under the head of the bolt or its nut. They use a length of gage wire to produce the desired resistance in the form of a flat coil. This coil is then cemented between two thin insulating sheets of paper or plastic. Such a gage cannot be used directly to measure deflection. It has to be first fixed properly to a member to be strained.
