Profile: Western Instruments Inc. is a manufacturer of non-destructive testing equipments. We manufacture portable magnetic particle inspection equipment which includes yokes, coils and accessories. Our W-Series products are used to inspect ferromagnetic materials for near and surface breaking defects. Defects include cracks (weld, stress, fatigue) and manufacturing defects. We also provide sales, repair and rentals of NDT/NDE equipments. We represent many industries in the field of ultrasonics, magnetic particle, dye penetrant, visual and electro-magnetic equipment, which are major disciplines in the inspection field, with the exception of radiography. We manufacture ultrasonic testing systems for primary and secondary metal industries, with a particular emphasis on welded steel pipe & tube. The pipe & tube systems are designed to meet industry specifications such as API, ASTM and CSA. We also produce equipment for testing specialty bars and railway rail in both the manufacturing and field operations. Our pit gauges are used extensively by corrosion inspectors in the oil/gas, petrochemical, and steel industries. Our dial indicators are available in both metric and imperial versions. Our WE-7 yoke utilizes a standard micro-switch for activation. The ergonomically designed housing, combined with its light weight, reduces operator fatigue and strain, for more effective inspections. The compact design also allows the WE-7 to fit into confined spaces better than any other AC/DC yoke on the market. The urethane rubber housing provides durability in rugged environments. It lifts over 10 pounds in AC mode and 50 pounds in DC mode, exceeding ASTM/ASME specifications. It is equipped with infinitely variable DC output. The AC/DC selector switch is equipped with a unique feedback loop, to eliminate failures due to switching between modes when the unit is activated.
