Wet Tapping is a method of making a branch connection to a water or sewer main while the existing pipeline is running live & under working pressure. This tapping method employs a pressure-contained tapping machine, a full-port tapping valve and a pressure-contained tapping sleeve attached (bolted) to the existing pipeline. Wet taps use a tapping sleeve that is bolted to the existing pipeline to make a branch connection. Wet tapping is used on sewer or water systems. Wet taps are performed on materials that cannot be welded.
