The vortex flow meter consists of a conduit for the passage of a fluid and a vortex generator disposed in said conduit at the upstream end . The vortex generator includes a plurality of vortex amplifying plates which are disposed at right angles to the flow of fluid through the conduit. It has a pair of symmetrically disposed hot wires which are mounted under tension on posts protruding from the surface of the downstream plate in spaced relation to the surface of the plate.
Vortex fluid flowmeter is adapted to measure the flowrate of fluid passing through a conduit by measuring the frequency of emission of alternating vortices generated by an obstacle extending across the conduit. It comprises a mesh structure mounted upstream of the vortex-shedding obstacle. This mesh structure is constituted by a grid made of bars of wires of rectangular cross-section. The distance between the grid and the obstacle is chosen so that the obstacle will be in the working range of the grid.
Vortex pumps are designed to pump large solids and gritty sludge. The spinning action of the impeller creates a vortex or whirlpool. This whirlpool increases the velocity of the material being pumped. They are used widely in applications where the liquid being pumped contains large amounts of solids or debris that could clog or damage the pump's impeller. The impeller spins in an area of the volute that is completely out of the liquid flow path. Since the impeller is not in the flow path of the volute, the pump is ideal for handling liquids that contain long stringy solids, large diameter solids, slurries or a combination of all of these without plugging up. The matter that goes into the pump suction will be pumped out as long as the solids are smaller than the discharge connection. They are used in raw sewage lift stations, grit handling, sludge recirculation, coal wash, citrus waste and sugar waste handling applications.
Vortex shedding flowmeters consist of three basic elements comprising of vortex generating element, sensor and an electronic module. They result in pressure and velocity changes around and downstream of the vortex generating element. The frequency of this shedding flow meter is directly proportional to the volumetric flow rate. These are available in pipe sizes ranging from 15mm to 300 mm. This has high accuracy and rangeability.
