A desiccant is a hygroscopic substance that absorbs or adsorbs water. It is most commonly used to remove humidity that would normally degrade or even destroy products sensitive to moisture. Silica gel, calcium sulfate, montmorillonite clay and molecular sieves are commonly used as desiccants. The desiccant bags are used in packaging of any materials to protect it from any deformation. The capacity of the bagged desiccant was substantially greater than the other desiccant types like desiccant-coated paper due to the larger size of silica gel crystals.

Baghouse collectors are also called as fabric dust collectors. These are used in many processes to either recover valuable granular solid or powder from process streams or to remove granular solid pollutants from exhaust gases prior to venting to the atmosphere. In baghouse collectors, the dust filled air stream passes through fabric bags that filter the dust particles. Bags are made of different material such as woven or felted cotton, synthetic, or glass-fiber.
