Cement accelerators are used to improve the properties of the cement slurry. Cement accelerators are added to promote rapid hardening of the material. Cement accelerators include calcium formate, calcium chloride and lithium carbonate. These components accelerate the set time of the cement-based adhesive.

Cement Additives are categorized as accelerators, retarders, fluid-loss additives, dispersants, extenders, weighting agents, lost-circulation additives and special additives designed for specific operating conditions. Cement additives are available in powder or liquid form. The applications include retardation, slag cement, water reduction, water repellency and water retention. Cement additives contain the notified chemical in concentrated (up to 31 %) aqueous solution.
