Impulse generator is an electrical apparatus, which produces very short high-voltage or high-current surges. Such devices can be classified into two types: impulse voltage generators and impulse current generators. High impulse voltages are used to test the strength of electric power equipment against lightning and switching surges. Also steep-front impulse voltages are sometimes used in nuclear physics experiments. High impulse currents are needed not only for tests on equipment such as lightning arresters and fuses but also for many other technical applications such as lasers, thermonuclear fusion, and plasma devices.
Impulse test stand is used for pressure testing of hydraulic hoses, fittings, tubing and components as well as, life cycle and endurance testing. This impulse test stand is computer controlled hydraulic system. The test unit is supported with an operator interface that displays hydraulic circuit and critical functions. The controller features include pass/fail overlays and a real-time data acquisition system, (DAS).
Impulse Type Hydraulic Turbine is used for high head hydroelectric power plants. The impulse turbine uses the velocity of the water to move the runner and discharges to atmospheric pressure. Impulse turbine is suitable for high head & low flow applications.
