Tong Dies are available with various tooth configurations, which help grip the pipe. Such configurations include transverse mud grooves, which allow the pipe dies to maintain a grip even in contaminated conditions such as when the pipe is coated with mud and oil. Tong dies are designed to provide a greater gripping area engaging the tool joint. Tong dies are made from carburized alloy steel and heat treated for extreme hardness & strength. Tong sizes are available to cover drill pipe and casing sizes from 1.900″ OD through 30″ OD. The tong dies come into gripping engagement with the pipe over a large composite accurate angle to increase the pipe gripping ability of the tong.

Tong torque assembly provides the driller an accurate indication of make-up torque regardless of the type of size of pipe or tool joint. It includes two major components such as the gauge and load sensor. The load sensor is a rugged hydraulic cylinder.
