Analogue systems process analogue signals, which can take any value within a range, for example the output from an LDR or a microphone. An audio amplifier is an example of an analogue system. The amplifier produces an output voltage, which can be any value within the range of its power supply. An analogue meter can display any value within the range available on its scale. However, the precision of readings is limited by our ability to read them. The analogue meter can show any value between 1.2 and 1.3 but we are unable to read the scale more precisely than about half a division.

Analogue Voltmeter, Ammeter and Frequency Meter (36 suppliers)
Analog voltmeters are instruments that measure voltage or voltage drop in a circuit. They display values on a dial, usually with a needle or moving pointer. Analog voltmeters are used to locate excessive resistance that may indicate an open circuit or ground. They are also used to identify low voltage or voltage drops that may indicate a poor connection. Analog voltmeters are connected in parallel (and never in series) with the circuit being tested so that the meter can tap a small amount of current. The positive lead is connected to the circuit's positive side and the negative lead is connected to the circuit's ground. An ammeter is a measuring instrument used to measure the flow of electric current in a circuit. Electric currents are measured in amperes. Modern ammeter designs are non-mechanical, or digital, and use an analog to digital converter to measure the voltage across the shunt resistor. Frequency meters are instruments that provide analog outputs as frequencies that vary as a function of the applied input. They display values on a dial, usually with a needle or moving pointer. Frequency meters measure repetitions per unit of time, usually per second, of a complete electromagnetic waveform.

An analyser is a device that analyses given data. It examines in detail the structure of the given data and tries to find patterns and relationships between parts of the data. An analyser can be a piece of hardware or a software program running on a computer. It can also be an instrument or device which conducts chemical analysis on samples or sample streams. Such samples consist of some type of matter such as solid, liquid, or gas. Many analyzers perform such analyses automatically or mostly automatically, such as autoanalyzers.

Analytical Balances (44 suppliers)
An analytical balance is an instrument used to measure mass to a very high degree of precision. The weighing pans of a high accuracy analytical balance are inside a see-through enclosure with doors so dust does not collect and so any air currents in the room do not affect the delicate balance. Also, the sample must be at room temperature to prevent natural convection from forming air currents inside the enclosure, affecting the weighing. Analytical precision is achieved by maintaining a constant load on the balance beam, by subtracting mass on the same side of the beam that the sample is added. The final balance is achieved by using a small spring force rather than subtracting fixed weights.
