Trash trap is a device used to prevent floating debris. It is constructed in galvanized steel with a metal mesh basket. The basket incorporates small holes to allow the movement of water to continue whilst collecting the floating debris. It is designed to operate under a wide range of tidal conditions and water flow rates with minimal maintenance. It can also be used in the event of spill situations where fuels and oils can be contained and removed easily using conventional oil spill removal equipment.
The travel carriage is driven by a geared motor via a pinion and a tooth rack fitted on the floor on both sides to ensure correct alignment. The tooth rack is fitted upside down to prevent material from sticking to it, thus stabilizing operation. It is placed on the longitudinal carriage. The latter is fitted on the carriage for longitudinal travel.
