Rare Earth Permanent Magnets are used in accelerators. Rare earth permanent magnets exhibit a high magnetic moment per unit volume and have extreme stability in high external fields. Rare earth permanent magnets include sintered & bonded neodymium. Rare-earth permanent magnets are found in motors mounted on automobiles and hard disc drives.
Raschig rings are a form of random packing and are used in commercial fractional distillation columns to reduce pressure loss. They are small tube cuttings providing a surface for evaporation of the most volatile part in the refluxing distillate, typically 10 mm in diameter and 12 mm long. These can be made from metal, glass, or ceramic. The height of the ring is equal to its diameter. Rings made of copper tube cuttings are superior at fractionating volatile hydrocarbons mixed with water.
Ratchet Cutter is an instrument that is suitable for copper, aluminum and fine wire cables. It can able to cut thin steel sheathing or steel tape armored cables. It is specially designed with moving blade to handle the larger diameter telephone cable and soft drawn copper and aluminum.
Ratchet Holdbacks operate silently at conveyor shaft speeds. Its pawl never touches the ratchet except when the direction of the shaft rotation is reversed. The pawl operating cradle, with its high center of gravity causes the pawl to engage with the ratchet when the shaft on which it is mounted tries to reverse. This cradle, resting on brake lining covered hubs, continuously maintains the pawl in a disengaged position when the shaft is rotating in the normal operating direction. This backstop is designed for slow speed shafts and should be mounted on the conveyor head shaft.
