Particulate filter is designed to remove particulate matter from diesel exhaust by physical filtration. The most common type is a ceramic (cordierite or silicon carbide) honeycomb monolith. The structure like an emissions catalyst substrate with the channels blocked at alternate ends. The exhaust gasses must therefore flow through the walls between the channels and the particulate matter is deposited on the walls.
Partition plates allow visual and electrical separation of terminal groups and provide the necessary electrical spacing between adjacent insulated jumpers or between exposed ends of cut jumpers. These are commonly used in power plant condensers to support tube bundles.
