Lifting magnet is an object that has a force. In the modern sense, a lifting magnet is any material that has a magnetic field. It can be in the form of permanent magnet or an electro magnet. Permanent magnets do not rely upon outside influences to generate their field. Electromagnets rely upon electric current to generate a magnetic field when the current decreases, so does the magnetic field. Lifting magnets are attracted to or repelled by other thing. If a lifting magnet is strongly attracted to object then that material is said to have a high permeability. Iron and steel are two examples of materials with very high grade and they are strongly attracted to magnets. Lifting magnets incorporating large electromagnets are used in iron and steel works for handling iron, castings, billets, rails and other magnetic materials.
