Solid-state controls are becoming more commonplace in refrigeration. It might employ thermostats, which are variable resistors that change in value of the temperature. The solid state control option is used in conjunction with an automatic hanging garment baggage device or other machine that has a solid state printed circuit board. The advantage of solid state controls is the elimination of contacts and moving parts, thus eliminating arcing and wear out mechanisms found in electromechanical components. Many manufacturers now employ solid state time-delay controls in both large and small systems, which automatically prevent compressor operation until a predetermined time elapses after the compressor shuts down.
Solid state digital controller features solid state thermostats, digital countdown display, audible alarm, automatic shortening melt cycle and probe diagnostics.
