The electric atomizer is an easy way of producing small liquid droplets by means of high-speed rotation, without the need of compressed air or any high pressure. It consists of a high-speed electric motor rotating a porous cylinder at speeds up to 35,000 rpm. Input liquid runs down the inside of the hollow shaft and into the cylinder. Centrifugal force drives the liquid through the porous material, spreading it evenly on the cylinder's surface. The shearing action of the air against the rotating surface atomizes the liquid into small droplets, which are all of similar size. A circular low-impact spray cloud is created, which can be adjusted by control of the motor speed.
