Bulkhead fitting is a remarkable item of plumbing designed to pass a connection through the sealed wall of a vessel. These are designed for easy adaptation and installation, permitting a free flows of liquids for tank or drum drainage or filling. A bulkhead fitting is a way of getting an attachment for plumbing on two sides of a plate (bulkhead). The simplest bulkhead fitting is made with a close nipple, two rubber washers, two stainless steel washers and two pipe thread nuts. Place the nipple through a hole in the plate. Slip over a rubber washer, a SS washer and then run on the nut.

Butterfly dampers are the most common type of damper used in an acid plant. It can be used for flow control and shut off duties. It is cylindrical in shape. The damper consists of a disc, radially mounted on a shaft, inside a small segment of cylindrical duct. The shaft protrudes through the surface of the duct, to be accessible from outside the duct. It is typically used in round ductwork and zoning applications.
