Extruder Presses are for extrusion of thermoplastic materials. It has one output gap in an extruder body, which is formed by an output gap-defining adjustable extruder lip and an opposing gap-bounding lip. This output gap is adjustable with the help of a mechanical coarse adjusting mechanism to a given gap width. The gap-defining adjustable extruder lip is connected to adjusting element, to which a control and adjusting device for the thickness of the extruded material is associated. They have a translator, which are employed as an adjusting element and in the form of piezotransistor or magnetrostriction translator. The control and adjusting device is set up for a fine adjustment in the range between 0.05 and 0.3 mm.

A single screw extruder consists of single screw rotating in a closely fitting barrel where as a twin screw extruder can be described as two single screw extruders sitting side by side with only a small portion of barrel in common. Extruders can be used for the mixing, melting, and reacting of materials.
