CAM operated rotary switches are defined as set of contacts arranged to make and break in a sequential fashion by which the connected outputs will close and open the circuits. The main areas of operation are in making & breaking & isolating power circuits and switching of auxiliary circuits. The CAM which does the function of closing and opening of the switch, have multiple positions (rotary movement) which allows multiple circuit functions controlled through single operations. These switches are suitable for AC as well as DC applications. The number of positions and the switching angles are flexible and will offer the user a choice to decide based on the requirement.
Cam Phase Adjustment Test includes gain terms that are adaptively adjusted to optimize the rate of response of the control to changes in the desired cam phase. The rate of response of the cam phase adjustment mechanism is sampled under specified operating conditions or during certain repeated engine events that involve a change in the desired cam phase and the deviation of the measured rate of response from the nominal rate of response is determined and used to adjust the closed-loop control gains for restoring the nominal response.
Cam Ring includes a cam groove, which is open at one end. Cam ring reduces fluid-borne noise to at least the level of a fixed pump. The cam ring used on radial engines has several cam lobes on its outer surface.
Cam timer is an electromechanical system for controlling a sequence of events automatically. An electric motor drives, through a reduction gearbox, a shaft on which is arranged a series of cams. Associated with each cam is one or more switches. The motor rotates at a fixed speed, and the camshaft follows, usually very slowly. Indentations or protrusions on the cams operate the switches at different times. By arrangement of the cams and switches, complex sequences of opening and closing switches can be made. The switches then operate different elements of the controlled system. The most common use for cam timers is in automatic washing machines, where they are used to drive the washing sequence according to a preprogrammed pattern.
