Thermal oils transfer heat energy in process heating, metal working, and machine cooling applications. It is mostly used in circulating process heaters, chillers or coolers between a heat source and heat sink. These oils differ in terms of chemical composition. These are formulated from alkaline organic and inorganic compounds.

Thermal Oxidizers are used to destroy objectionable hydrocarbons contained in waste streams from manufacturing plants. The waste may be solids, liquids or gases. It heats the waste material to burn in the presence of air (oxidize at elevated temperature). The simplest one consists of a burner, a holding chamber and a stack. This testing should be conducted in accordance with a documented protocol by an ISTA certified laboratory, or a laboratory that has established procedures and calibrated equipment adequate to demonstrate reproducibility of methods of thermal analysis.
