Universal testing machines are designed to test specimens in tension, compression, or bending. It can load material with a single, continuous pulse or in a cyclic manner. These testing machines are designed to apply a force to a material to determine its strength and resistance to deformation. These testing machines measure and indicate the applied force in pound-force, kilogram-force or newtons. There are three main types of universal testing machines in common use that include electromechanical testing machine, servohydraulic testing machine and electric actuator machine.

Vibration testing is the shaking of a product or package to determine its ability to survive in real world conditions. It is, in brief, is the shaking or shocking of a component or assembly to see how it will stand up to real world conditions. It is used in applications ranging from circuit boards and aircraft to vehicles and household appliances. Conducting these tests in the field or the laboratory involves the use of data analyzers, climatic chambers, controllers, instruments and vibration exciters. The procedure for vibration testing involves placing the product or package on a vibration testing table, which is driven so that the surface of the table vibrates. Shock and vibration testing is a subset of product and component testing, a larger category that includes electrical, life, environmental, exposure, dynamic, ergonomic and other specialized tests. Common capabilities of shock and vibration testing services (dynamics) include testing and simulation, component and product comparison, certification and qualification, data acquisition and instrumentation, design verification testing (DVT), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), sample preparation, and research and development. A video camera is a camera, which is used for electronic motion picture acquisition. These are used primarily in two modes. The first, characteristic of much early television, is what might be called a live broadcast, where the camera feeds real time images directly to a screen for immediate observation; in addition to live television production, such usage is characteristic of security, military/tactical, and industrial operations where surreptitious or remote viewing is required. The second is to have the images recorded to a storage device for archiving or further processing; videotape is traditional for this purpose, but optical disc media, hard disk, and flash memory are all used as well. Video scope is an inspection tool, which capture images from inside holes, bores or cavities. They are combination bundles of optical devices and light sources that can be used in normally inaccessible locations.  Images are displayed in real time, recorded onto tape, and/or stored digitally. It resembles fiberscopes in appearance and operation.  However, instead of deriving a fiber optic image from a bundle in the probe, video scopes use a charged couple device in the distal tip to capture the image and transmit it back as electronic pulses. These are used in medical fields, including cardiology, dentistry, and reproductive analysis. These are often used for visual inspection of the internal surfaces, or inner diameter of tubes, piping, cylinders and castings, and for examination of engines and structures, and quality assurance testing.
