In wastewater treatment, chemical precipitation is used to remove phosphorus and to enhance suspended-solids removal in sedimentation processes. The most common chemicals used are aluminum hydroxide, ferric chloride, ferric sulfate and lime. In the field of wastewater treatment, chemical unit operations are usually used in conjunction with physical unit operations and biological unit processes. Such treatment is considered as means of stream upgrading by coagulation, emulsion, breaking, precipitation or neutralization. Coagulation is the process that is used to remove colloids from water by the addition of chemicals. The chemicals upset the stability of the system by neutralizing the colloid charge. The emulsion breaking is similar to coagulation. The emulsion is generally broken with a combination of acidic reagents and polyelectrolytes. The common ion effect is also useful in wastewater treatment. In this case, an unwanted salt is removed from solution by adding a second soluble salt to increase one of the ion concentrations.

Welding is a fabrication process that joins materials, usually metals or thermoplastics, by causing coalescence. Welding fume extractor with mechanical (MFD), self-cleaning (MFS) or electrostatic (MFE) filter that can be combined with various extraction arms. Mobile units provide increased flexibility at various work locations and at locations that are not accessible with a fixed installation. Weld fume filters are also suitable for extraction at multiple workstations.

Wet precipitator is an air pollution control device that uses a spray water wash to cleanse the fume residue that is collected dry on precipitator plates. It is fabricated of stainless steel for corrosion resistance. They apply a water quench to the gas stream before entering the collecting tubes. They are used for the removal of liquid contaminants such as sulphuric acid mist, aerosols and dust particles. The precipitators are able to handle water vapour saturated gases. These precipitators do not require rapping mechanisms for removing the collected dust. The collected dust is removed from the collector's plates by flushing with a suitable liquid like water, either by intermittent or continuous spray irrigation wet precipitators. The spray or weir system is designed to remove efficiently all of the collector material from the collector plates and to drain in to the hoppers. They are used for very low emission requirements, including cleaning gases, such as blast furnace gas prior to combustion.
