Ejectors are designed to convert the pressure energy of a motivating fluid to velocity energy to entrain suction fluid. Ejectors are categorized into four basic types such as single-stage, multi-stage non-condensing, multi-stage condensing and multi-stage with both condensing & non-condensing stages. It is composed of three basic parts such as nozzle, mixing chamber and diffuser.

An electric arc furnace is a system, which heats charged material by means of an electric arc. Arc furnaces range in size from small units of approximately one ton capacity used in foundries for producing cast iron products, up to about 400 ton units used for secondary steelmaking. Arc furnaces used in research laboratories and by dentists may have a capacity of only a few dozen grams. Temperatures inside an electric arc furnace can rise to approximately 1,800 degrees Celsius. Electrophoretic mobility is a factor that indicates how fast a given ion or solute may move through a given medium. The electrical force acts in favor of motion and the frictional force acts against motion. Since these forces are in a steady state during electrophoresis, electrophoretic mobility is a constant for a given ion under a given set of conditions. Electrophoretic mobility is probably the most important concept to understand in electrophoresis. This is because electrophoretic mobility is a characteristic property for any given ion or solute and will always be a constant and it is the defining factor that decides migration velocities.

Electrostatic collectors are used as suitable alternatives for collecting fine aerosol fractions. A new annular electrostatic collector is used for sampling particles in the size range of less than 2.5 micro m. this electrostatic has been used successfully with samples in which each fraction represented approximately 5 mg of collected material per injection; collection efficiency is collectively quantitative.

Electrostatic Precipitator is a particulate collection device that removes particles from a flowing gas using the force of an induced electrostatic charge. They are highly efficient filtration devices that minimally impede the flow of gases through the device, and can easily remove fine particulate matter such as dust and smoke from the air stream. This precipitator is used in utility applications as well as industries such as cement, pulp & paper, petrochemicals and steel. They are also capable of operating over a wide range of conditions of temperature, pressure and dust burden. Some of the usual applications include removal of dirt from flue gases in steam plants, cleaning of air to remove fungi and bacteria in establishments producing antibiotics and other drugs as well as cleaning of air in ventilation and air conditioning systems.

Electrostatic separator is a process for selective sorting of solid species by means of the electric forces which act on charged or polarized bodies. An electrostatic separator contains at least four components: a charging discharging mechanism, an external electric field, a non-electrical particle trajectory device and feed & product collection systems. Charging by contract electrification is an active mechanism whenever dissimilar particles make and break contact with each other or whenever they slide over a chute or an electrode. This charging mechanism is most frequently used to charge selectively and obtain an electrostatic separation of two species of dielectric materials as realized in a free fall electrostatic separator. Depending on the charging mechanism the electrostatic separator systems are classified in to three categories as free fall separator, high-tension separator and conduction separator.
