Electronic Expansion Valves are designed for units with medium-large capacity. It is used for precisely controlling refrigerant flow through the valve is disclosed. It has bi-directional expansion capacity which allows simplifications of the circuit layout in reversible heat pumps. The glass window, positioned in the valve, can be used to check the operation of the expansion device and the presence of turbulence in the refrigerant. These are available in several types with different head line types and inner diameters were selected as test sections. It includes control system, stepper motor, sleeve member and an orifice assembly. The control system provides electronic digital control signals to the stepper motor to control operation of the motor in response to superheat of refrigerant flowing from an evaporator to a compressor of the refrigeration system. It also includes sealing which means to prevent refrigerant flow through when the sleeve member is in its fully closed position.

Excess flow check valves are normally open safety valves for installation in lines flowing into and out of pressure tanks. Its main function is to stop the full flow of the tanks liquid contents automatically should a flow line rupture and reset automatically when repairs are made. Therefore, It should be installed in the tank fitting or as near as possible to the tank. It can be used in various other piping systems to limit flows to a predetermined maximum flow. Feedwater control valves are used for start up and main feed water control. These two functions are integrated in the combined feed water control valve. The delivery range also includes separate control valves. One of the special features of these types of valves is the trim design in which control of fluid velocities is maintained under all operating flow conditions. This approach practically eliminates cavitations, which is likely to occur during startup, or under low flow conditions, when the DP across the valve is significantly higher than normal flow conditions. Essentially, the trim is made up of disks, which are multi-stage, multi-path flow controlling elements. In the case of feed water control valves, fine control is required at low flows and high DP's and, at full load with high flow low and DP.

Fin Actuator has an active span of 0.32 m. This actuation is provided by a 6 bar pneumatic source, coupled to three proportional valves, adjusting the input pressures. The deflected actuator is modeled as a curve of constant radius. It also presents a novel control problem in that the entire structure undergoes elastic deformation with no joints to control or measure. It consists of eight equally spaced PBAs arranged in a series along a mounting rail. Three proportional valves are used per PBA, enabling individual control of 3-d movements. The PBAs bend to act in a similar manner to the fin rays and are interconnected by an elastic material, acting as the fish fin membrane. The membrane currently used has been fabricated from a single sheet of two-way stretch Lycra, folded in half with a pouch created for each fin ray. Each sensor is a thin-walled aluminum pillar with a total of 12 strain gauges attached to its outer cylinder surface. The whole device is firmly attached inside a test tank.
