Asphalt pavement is a mixture of graded stone aggregate and asphalt. The asphalt is the binder or glue that holds the pavement together. If left unprotected, asphalt is subject to degradation from oxidation and water penetration. The primary characteristic of all asphalt pavers is a floating screed. The machine must be able to place a consistently smooth, even finish at the proper depth and provide initial compaction. They are capable of placing the concrete at the specified depth with the appropriate reinforcing steel and providing compaction and an initial finish.

Asphalt sealer is an emulsion type acrylic clear co-polymer sealer. It is designed to assist in the sealing of asphalt surfaces. The basic use of asphalt sealer is to provide an interface barrier between the asphalt substrate and the product during the cure phase of the coating. The coating will not be chemically changed while being applied.

Baked phenolic coatings provide superior protection for vane axial wheels. Baked Phenolic coatings are used to protect railroad tank cars transporting sulphonic acid. It is most commonly used for immersion service in acids, ammonias, petroleum products, dairy and food products/components and industrial chemicals. After baking, these linings become nontoxic, odorless, and tasteless.

It offers the advantages of minimal absorption and much higher resistance to abrasion.

Coatings of a soft bearing material allow the embedding of abrasive particles and permit deformation to accommodate some misalignment of the bearing surfaces. These surfaces require adequate lubrication and should be low in cost as they wear in preference to the mating surface. The role of coatings on bearing surfaces is to improve the rolling contact fatigue properties of 440C bearing steel. The life improvements were attributed to compressive residual stresses resulting from the coating process. Bearing surface coatings can run longer and cooler and superior for corrosion protection.

Boronizing is a thermochemical surface-hardening process that can be applied to a wide variety of ferrous, nonferrous, and cermet materials. The boronizing pack process is similar to pack carburizing with the parts to be coated being packed with a boron-containing compound such as boron powder or ferroboron. Boronizing is most often applied to tool steels or other substrates that are already hardened by heat treatment. When applied to the appropriate materials, boronizing provides wear and abrasion resistance comparable to sintered carbides.
